Tech lovers – or techies for that matter – will definitely appreciate this post. As you probably have already observed, technology has pervaded almost every aspect of our daily living. It has gone beyond entertainment purposes to educational purposes and more. When it comes to planning your dream wedding, why not make the most out of the technology available to you as well?

You need not be a rocket scientist to figure out that your personal computer and the Internet will be quite useful when it comes to planning your wedding. Planning your wedding using your PC can be as simple as getting ideas from various sites (such as this one). Your research can be general or very specific, depending on what you want and need. One thing that you can do online when planning your wedding is to get passages for readings, vows, invitations, and the like. You can get these passages for free or even modify them to suit your tastes better.

One very useful thing that the Internet has to offer when it comes to planning your wedding has to do with wedding gowns, tuxedos, and even the whole wardrobe of the wedding party! You can get ideas for designs and themes from various web sites online. You can then either order clothes online or print out the designs and have someone else make them for you. Other vital elements of a wedding can be found online as well. These include wedding singers, bands, DJs, ministers, venues, florists, caterers, and more.

More than these resources mentioned above, you can also find online wedding planner software that will make your planning much easier and more organized. Some of the programs are free while others may cost a minimal fee. What can these programs do for you? Different software have different features of course, however, the general idea behind wedding planning software is to give you a calendar and a check list by which you can monitor the tasks that you need to complete before the wedding as well as the time frame that you have.

It is true that countless people have planned weddings over the centuries without the help of the computer and the Internet. Yet it would be playing ostrich not to recognize what technology has to offer the bride and the groom. Just imagine how much easier and more organized it will be for you. So why not do some research and see if there is software that can help you?

So you have decided that hiring a wedding coordinator would be to your advantage. It is in fact a good decision. Yet before you can actually enjoy the benefits of having a good wedding coordinator, you would have to go through a selection process that will ensure headache-free planning. There is really no point in hiring a wedding coordinator if you turn out to hire one that would give you headaches later down the road. What should you do in order to get the most suitable wedding coordinator?

First of all, make sure that the wedding coordinator that you are considering is backed up with credentials and experience. How do you make sure of this? If you start looking online, check out their supposed credentials on their web site. Then do not hesitate to check them out. You can do this by visiting their offices if they have one. You also have to check whether they have a license to operate as such.

In addition to the “official” credentials, you can also check out their work by actually talking to their previous customers. You can ask the wedding coordinators themselves for references. If they do not have anything to hide, they will be more than happy to share with you their previous work. In fact, they would bank on satisfied customers to help sell their services to you.

Once you can rest assured that your potential wedding coordinator is legit, reliable, and comes up with good results, you then have to look into compatibility. Good wedding coordinators need to have a great personality that jives perfectly with yours and your partner’s. If there is a personality problem, this might pose some complications during the planning process. As such, try to look out for these tiny details during your interviews.

One last thing, you should also check the cost of hiring the wedding coordinator. I am sure that you have a budget for your wedding. Do not hesitate to ask outright what the prices for their services would be. If it is too much, see if there is any way that you can compromise. If not, then try looking for someone else. Remember that there is more than one wedding coordinator vying for your custom. It would actually be to your advantage to talk with several coordinators and then compare their prices.

Again, the bottom line is that you should get what you want for the price that you want. In the end, it is your satisfaction and peace of mind that you should take into consideration.

Movies like the Wedding Planner have shown the general public the need for wedding coordinators. In the most basic sense, these people are the one who take care of everything related to your wedding. The question is, though, does a couple really need a wedding coordinator? Can’t they just do everything themselves?

To answer this question, let’s look at a scenario, which, though hypothetical at this point, is probably true for many couples planning their wedding. The moment a couple gets engaged, they start to become inundated with all sorts of details needed to come up with the perfect wedding. From the bridal shower to the invitations to the venue to the gown to the reception, a couple about to get married needs to deal with all these things.

If you are the average couple, with both partners working and having to deal with a whole host of other responsibilities, you just might find yourself overwhelmed with all the planning. Take for example the simple matter of choosing a company to take care of the photos and videos during the wedding day. There is definitely no shortage of companies that can take care of this for you. The problem actually lies in the fact that you have too many choices. So how do you choose? The same thing goes for the entertainment for the reception, the caterer, the florist, and a lot of other things.

This is where the wedding coordinator can actually contribute most. A wedding coordinator only needs to know your preferences and needs and budget. He or she can then do all the legwork and negotiate with various caterers and providers. Of course, he or she would need to coordinate closely with you and your partner in order to ensure that what you will be getting is what you want.

More than this, experienced wedding coordinators would have lots of contacts already. They would have established relationships with florists, caterers, photographers and the like. This would mean that they can probably get better rates than if you were to do the negotiating yourself. This translates into savings for you and your partner.

Of course you would have to be careful in choosing your wedding coordinator. Not all wedding coordinators will get along with you. This is simply a matter of personality and the way one works. So you would have to take this into consideration. In the next post, we will talk about how to choose the perfect wedding coordinator to match your needs.

A lot of people may not notice it, but couples would usually follow a certain wedding theme through colors. A lot of the color schemes would normally be patterned to colors like lavender, pink, peach, yellow, blue or green. The theme to be picked out depends largely on what the couple would believe in like tradition and culture. While many would not find this necessary, it is really something important for couples who want to make their wedding rituals colorful and memorable as well.

Wedding themes would usually be picked out by the bride with the consent of the groom in the end. It is customary and only normal that women are more passionate and particular about their wedding themes since they are usually exposed and do the research on how to make such an event in their lives a treasured moment. The color schematics cover the flower arrangements, entourage designs and of course the wedding giveaways that are passed on during the reception proceedings.

It has been a common sight that color themes would usually create the proper ambiance and complement that weddings would usually project. The selection of colors would usually have meanings. These would stem from ancestral and superstitious beliefs that include good luck charms and happy marriages. It would all depend on the level of belief that sides, bride and groom, and their families would normally advice.

Ill-prepared weddings may not have time to go over the necessary preparations, making it something secondary since the main purpose is simply to tie the knot. While implementing colored themes in weddings is not really a requirement, it is a sign of unity and for some who believe in superstitions, a sign of well-preparedness in journeying towards a new life as husband and wife.

But the standard practice in weddings, whether it is big or a small gathering, really follow a certain them to make the occasion unique and different from the standard wedding events that people would get to experience through friends and colleagues. Couples would normally resort to trying to improve or outdo the weddings that they see, mixing ideas and trying to conceptualize something unique for their own wedding to be different and extravagant.

Besides, weddings are usually held once in a lifetime for couples who want to be officially married. Preparations and the like are tedious but after some years, they will always go back to memory lane and look at how exotic and memorable their exchange of vows truly was.

When we think of weddings, most people immediately jump to get the items on the wedding task list. They rush out and immediately start hunting for that perfect dress. They start looking for the perfect venue and of course the perfect meal. What often gets left to whimsy is the time of the wedding.

The date and time of the wedding are two items that should be planned ahead of time. This should be discussed long before you begin hunting for possible venues. It is a lot easier to get a great venue if you have these details clear; though it is understood that you may need to adjust to the availability of the venue or find another place.

What is the best time for your wedding? The answer varies from person to person. It depends on a lot of factors, most of which you must balance for the wedding to meet your needs.

One thing to think about is what time of the day you are at your best. Most people qualify themselves as morning people. Others say they are night owls. It simply means the time that they are truly alive, alert, aware and able to enjoy what is going on around them. It is the best time for them to be getting ready for an occasion as major as their wedding. Think about it. If you are someone who doesn’t feel truly awake until the afternoon, having a morning wedding can make you feel rushed. This usually translates to additional stress you don’t need. It can ruin not just your mood but the way you look. So it really is best to work with your body clock - or condition yourself to wake up earlier than usual and adjust as best you can.

A useful tool for some couples is the biorhythm calendar. The basic theory is that our condition follows a cycle or pattern. Measuring three aspects - your physical, mental, emotional state - the biorhythm calendar can help you to pick a date when you are at your best. This is a day when all the aspects are on the way up or at the peak rather than in the nadir. You and your future spouse can use an online calendar and utilize the results to help you select an optimum day.

Of course, not everyone believes in the biorhythm calendar and that’s ok. You can just choose a day based on your availability, your preferences and the time slots given by the management of the venue you want to use.

Just keep in mind that the best time is the one that allows you to be very relaxed in spite of all the things that you may need to prepare and check on. Do make sure to go with what is most comfortable for you and your future spouse. Don’t let anyone till you that it is necessary to start at unholy hours. You will just find yourself grumpy from lack of sleep, to say the least.

One of the most fun things to do when preparing for your wedding is choosing your wedding gown. You get to try on a lot of dresses and find one that is perfect for you. You can even have it made especially for you - there is nothing like having a dress that is truly and completely yours, design, style and all.

Of course, whether you have it made to order or choose one that is ready made, the hunt can be exciting. It can also be tiring, frustrating and a very long process. But there are ways to make sure that the hunt never becomes too tedious.

Bring someone with you when you go looking for the perfect dress. It’s always more fun to do things with your best friend or your siblings or your mom. Ask someone you enjoy shopping with to go with you as you window shop. Make a day of it. They’ll be great company and they can help you by giving you a different point of view. If you decide to try on some dresses, they can provide an appreciative audience or a necessary critic. They’ll help make sure you have a blast and leave the ill-suited looking ones on the rack.

Attend bridal fashion shows. If you want to be up to date and gowned in the latest styles, the runway is definitely someplace you should go. One of the best things about a bridal fashion show is that you can see how the dress will move when you wear it. You’ll be able to see if the train is difficult to manage or a skirt too hard to maneuver in without having to try it on yet. You can also get some ideas for your hair and make-up based on what the models are wearing. Just make sure to have a camera handy (if the show allows it) or a pen and pad for quick sketches and notes.

Why not have your very own bridal fashion show? Go ahead and try on all the gowns you are interested in. There is no other way to find your dream piece and playing to a supportive audience is always more fun than trying on just one or two in the dressing room.

You can now check out runway fashions from the comfort of your home. There are websites where you can watch the bridal fashion shows on demand. You can catch the latest trends from some of the biggest names in wedding fashion such as Vera Wang and Moica Lhuillier without ever leaving the comfort of your home.

Compile pictures of dresses you like. Many brides have a vague picture in their head of what their dream dress actually looks like. Sometimes, you like the skirt of one dress to go with the top of another. Add the embellishment on the third and the train of a fourth and you get your dream gown. It is a lot easier for your seamstress to make your dress if she has pictures to base on rather than just your description so go ahead and put together the ones you like. It will help ensure you get the gown you really want.

A friend just got married a couple of days ago and it was a really well organized wedding. They hadn’t had any time for rehearsals but everything went smoothly - thanks in no small part to the wedding planner and wedding coordinator, who very unobtrusively guided everybody throughout the event.

What were very memorable about this wedding were the toasts. First the father of the bride stood and thanked everyone for attending the wedding. He said that he was very glad to see his daughter happily married. He talked of the anxiety of being a father of girls, how a dad always prays that his child finds someone who will truly love her and make her happy; and how he feels that indeed she has found it in the groom. He then proceeded to welcome his new son-in-law to the family. He then offered a toast to the happy couple.

Next the father of the groom stood to give his speech. He said that from the first moment that the bride was introduced to them, he hoped that she would become part of their family. They, the groom’s parents, saw in her qualities that they truly hoped for in a daughter and that they felt would make their son truly happy. They were blessed to have their wish fulfilled this day. He proceeded to offer a toast to the bride and groom’s happiness.

Now it was the best man’s turn. A little less serious, he talked of how much his friend changed since meeting the bride. He talked of how they knew that this girl was the one for his friend because his favorite pastimes now took second place to being with her and how responsible he became. He talked of how they complemented each other and how much their love and friendship showed - truly best friends. He offered a toast to love and friendship.

Then it was the groom’s turn. He stood up and said, “Thank you to my bride without whom this wedding would not have taken place”. That cracked most of us up since yes, there would have been no wedding if she had not said yes. Then he went on to explain that he was very lazy and laid back about the whole wedding. She was the one who made most of the decisions. She made sure that he got involved and it was thanks to her wise choices that the wedding went off so smoothly and was so absolutely beautiful, truly one he would cherish.

These are by no means perfect toasts. For sure there have been better made ones. The beauty of them is that they come from the heart and they celebrate the happy couple’s togetherness and goodness. They may not be flowery or poetic but everyone gets exactly what the speakers mean and yes, they do get to know the bride and groom a little better; and yes, they do get to wish them well.

So, what’s the trick to making the best toast? Speak from your heart and speak of the joy and love you see in the happy couple. Raise your glass and smile.

Technorati Tags: toast to the bride and groom, toast to the bride, love, wedding coordinator, wedding planner, father of the groom, bride and groom, father of girls, father of the bride, best man, toasts, speeches

If there is one thing that you should be at your wedding, you should definitely be yourself. Your wedding is about you and your spouse to be. It therefore makes sense for you to have the kind of wedding ceremony and celebration that matches your personality.

If you are a very private, reserved person you may not want a grand wedding. An intimate wedding with family and maybe a few close friends may be more your thing. On the other hand, if you were home coming queen and your spouse captain of the football team, you are more used to crowds and a small wedding is more likely to make you feel like you cut too many people out of the guest list.

At many weddings you know that the couple is happy to be married but if you look at their smiles whenever they have to pose for pictures, you can see that they look a bit frozen or glassy eyed. When you barely have an album full of pictures, having someone following you around and capturing every moment for posterity can be unnerving. If you are not used to being in front of the camera, take the time to find a good photographer, one who can work without being obtrusive. Don’t worry they are out there - though admittedly they can be a bit more expensive.

If you aren’t fond of parties a wedding that lasts three hours can feel like a lifetime. People will tell you it is the normal thing and they are right. Just keep in mind though that the control is in your hands. You and your groom can exit when you feel like it. Just don’t expect to be able to sneak out. The best man and maid of honor are known for being pretty sneaky. They’ll find a way to give you a good send off.

If you are marrying someone of a different nationality or religion you may have little choice about doing something that makes you uncomfortable - simply because it isn’t something you grew up with. In this case, you are unlikely to be able to do away with these rituals because they are a tradition your spouse and his family expect you to take part in. The best thing you can do is immerse yourself in their culture and familiarize yourself with it so that you will become more comfortable with it.

If you are marrying someone of a different nationality, learning their language can be a big help. Can you imagine going through a ceremony without understanding a single word? Keep in mind that you will be signing a marriage contract so it is best if you can understand what the officiant is saying. It is also a great way to build closer ties to your new in-laws.

If you are marrying someone of a different religion, inquire about lessons into that religion. It is a good idea to be familiar with your spouse-to-be’s faith since it can help put you and your fiance on the same page with regards to faith. You may even decide to raise your children with these beliefs. Before you get married is definitely a good time to start learning.

In this day and age where getting married and getting divorced is as quick and easy to do as changing your clothes, 50 years of marriage is an attainment indeed. It is indeed something to celebrate and is a very special occasion.

The 50th anniversary is called the golden anniversary since gold is the associated element. This sets the theme for the anniversary - almost everything is done with touches of gold, from the dress of the bride to the place settings and decor.

How do you celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary? Some couples choose to get married again. They have a renewal ceremony where they affirm their commitment to each other once more. In fact some couples re-enact their wedding day all over again. They use the same church for their renewal of vows and the same venue for their reception - yes they might even serve the same dishes.

There are a few differences. For example, at a golden anniversary, the children usually take on the various parts of the entourage rather than having the former bridesmaids, maid of honor and best man re-enact their parts. It would be great to have all the people that stood up with them present but rarely is it possible to have everyone there. Besides it is an honor that the children are happy to be given.

The bride rarely wears the original bridal gown she wore 50 years ago. In fact some brides choose to wear a dress in shades of gold with matching accessories.

The bride rarely wears a veil for this ceremony. Remember the veil was used to hide the brides face from her groom. The lifting of the veil was seen as permission granted to the groom to see all of who she was and after 50 years, they have definitely done that part so no need for veils.

Some couples choose to enter the ceremony the same way they did at their original wedding. The bride walks down the aisle and the groom marvels anew at her beauty and realizes how blessed he is that she chose him. For some couples though, they feel that it is time to walk in together, just as they have walked beside each other for fifty years.

When they first got married, they either paid for everything themselves or their parents shouldered some if not all of the cost of their nuptials. For the 50th anniversary it is sometimes shouldered by the couple but more often than not, the children are the ones paying for it since usually, it is their idea to have a big celebration anyway.

While the wedding theme normally includes it, it doesn’t mean that it should only be gold, but it is the dominant color. It is usually partnered with cream, white, silver, green or any other color, - usually in the metallic shades. Red is rarely used with the gold since the red tends to overpower the gold.

The 50th anniversary is an achievement rarely seen in this generation which is why every couple who makes it to this milestone truly have something to celebrate. We hope everyone gets to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

It has become a wedding tradition for newlyweds to be showered with something as they exit the church or wedding ceremony venue. What is used differs based on country, religion or tradition. Common choices are confetti, rice or wheat. Usually these are placed in little sacks, pouches or packets which are distributed to all the guests.

Why do people do this anyway? The beliefs vary. The throwing of confetti or its equivalent is said to be symbolic of the hope for increased fertility; the hope that the union will be blessed with children. Another belief says that it represents the showering of blessings in all its forms including the monetary one. It expresses the hope that the couple will have a good future together.

While this has become a wedding tradition, it is one that is frequently overlooked, forgotten or often left to the last minute. Many a bride and groom forget to have these prepared since they usually already have their hands full with the other wedding preparations. So it is often a regret for the newlyweds - though it isn’t a big deal really.

If you are one of the couples that believe that the showering is an important tradition that must be done for your wedding, here are some things that you should do to make sure that it happens:

Decide if you really want to have this tradition. While it has become popular, this tradition is by no means carved in stone. It is optional. Your personal beliefs should dictate whether or not you will make this tradition a part of your nuptials.

Decide if you your budget can accommodate it. Keep in mind that the packets or pouches have an equivalent cost. While it may not seem like much if you’re thinking of just a few, multiply it by the total number of guests who have confirmed that they are attending your wedding and you get its real cost. You might find that you would rather spend the money on your reception or honeymoon, rather than having your guests just throw your money in the air.

Decide what materials you want to use. Gone are the days when you had to use confetti, rice or wheat only. You can still have a showering using other items which are really great for those who want to be creative. For example, you might be someone who is environmentally conscious and want to save more trees. Instead of confetti, how about some bubbles instead? Bubbles are just soap and water. They’re pretty and they won’t harm the surroundings. They are also unique. The limit is really how much you are willing to spend and where your imagination takes you.

Assign someone to handle this task. It goes without saying that you’ll be pretty busy getting married and won’t have time to distribute the packets yourself. Usually this task will go to someone in your entourage or to your wedding coordinator.

Make sure that everyone knows what the packets or pouches are for. Sometimes people mistake this for the wedding favors, especially since they are usually attractively packaged. It helps to tell them what it is for so they’ll know what to do with it when the time is right.

Make sure your guests know when to open and use the pouches or packets. This is the job of the person who distributed the pouches or packets. They need to make sure that everyone is standing in place before you step out of the ceremony venue and shower you as you step out and pass them.
