Some Tips When Choosing Your Invitation

Wedding invitations stand for more than merely asking people to join you on your wedding day. Invitations, in fact, are a strong statement and carry a message to your guests. That is why in choosing your wedding invitation, it is necessary that you take your time and pay attention to the tiniest details. A wedding invitation is more than a piece of paper, it is a taste of what is in store for your guests on your wedding day.

Think about all that you have put into the planning of your whole wedding. Think about the time and effort you put into the determination of the location of the ceremony. How about how you decided on the reception hall? Also think on what it took you to finalize the theme and decorations. The same effort should be put into the determination of your wedding invitation.

In the past, wedding invitations took on a traditional note. It was easier, perhaps, to choose as you would have limited options. White paper, curly fonts, and the like were the norms for wedding invitations. Today, you have a wide range of options to choose from. In the last post, we talked about the different things you could do to make your invitation unique. To help you further in choosing your wedding invitation, here are some questions that you should ask yourself.

What kind of wedding are you having? This question pertains to the setting. For example, are you getting married in a church? Or maybe since it is spring you are opting for a garden wedding? Or maybe a beach wedding?

Next ask yourself, what is your color theme for the wedding? It would be a good idea to follow the color scheme when it comes to your invites. At the very least, you can choose a color that goes well with your theme.

Are you considering incorporating an ethnic or religious theme into your invitation? If so, then you could go into the specifics. What ethnic or religious elements do you want to incorporate?

Do you have a favorite quote or poem? Or maybe a religious verse? Talk about it with your partner and decide if you want to have a line or two printed on your invitations.

Last, but not the least, decide on your wedding invitation budget. It is very easy to overlook this and find out later that you have spent too much on your invites. So before you start, determine an acceptable amount and stick to it.

Ideas for Wedding Invitations

Perhaps one of the most important details that we pay attention to during our pre-wedding planning is the wedding invitation. In a way, it is the harbinger of great things to come. The wedding invitation is how we choose to announce to the rest of the world – our world at least – of the upcoming union of two souls. That is why couples who are getting married spend a considerable amount of time and effort in coming up with the perfect wedding invitation. Here are some ideas to get you going.

It doesn’t have to be paper! Traditional wedding invitations have always been printed on paper. This year, why not opt for something different? Ask yourself, do you really want to have your invitation on paper or are you willing to try out other materials that will give your invites more character? Some unique and creative things you can do: use fabric as a scroll, how about an acrylic block, or why not a think wooden slab? The more creative you get the better results you will have!

Okay, so you still want to use paper. Why not consider a different look and shape? Traditional wedding invitations come in the form of greeting cards, with inserts between the covers. Try to be a little more adventurous and change the size and shape of your invite. These days, you can come up with any size and shape wedding invitation. Try round, tri-fold, scroll, tea length, regal square – it is all up to your imagination!

For the fashion conscious, why not extend your style to your wedding invitations? Of course, your gown would probably take up a lot of your fashion sense but there is nothing stopping your from dressing up your invitation as well. Bows, ribbons, bands, and other decors can be used to liven up your invites. You may even use a certain wrap, called a pouchette, to encase your invitation. Another option would be to use jackets or purses to hold your invitation. This is especially suitable for those who are having a formal wedding. Jackets and purses come in all sizes and material. You can pick out whichever material will match your theme.

Do not forget the color! Gone are the days when invitations had to be in white or beige or ecru. Now, you can pick out whatever color you wish to use for your invitations. You can even decide to have a splash of different colors on them! Again, design your wedding invitations to make a statement and match your wedding theme at the same time.

Wedding invitations basically give your guests a glimpse of what is in store for them during your wedding day. When deciding on how to present your wedding invitation, bear in mind how you want your guests to look as well. The chances are that they will put some import on the invitation when it comes to deciding their attire for your wedding. So make a statement and do not hold back your creativity!

Wedding Flowers - What’s in Season?

Flowers are another important part of any wedding ceremony. Flowers add beauty and freshness – even elegance – to any event, more so to a wedding. That is why wedding planners or couples who are coming up with their dream wedding take great pains to make sure that the flowers for their wedding are perfect. When taking flowers into consideration during your wedding planning stage, it is not enough to just pick out flowers out of the blue.

One of the foremost considerations that wedding planners or a couple should bear in mind is the time of the year the wedding is going to take place. It is not an unbreakable rule, but it is practical to choose flowers that are in season at the time of the wedding. That is, unless you have a lot money and the finances are not part of the equation. However, if you are like a lot of people, you would want to be practical when it comes to your wedding expenses.

Practicality does not have to mean less beauty and quality, though. Choosing the flowers in season during you wedding ceremony is one way to be practical and at the same time make the most out of what is available. Let’s start with spring, as it is the season we are in right now. This is one of the best seasons to get married when it comes to seasonal flowers. Most everything is in bloom and you can have a wide range of choices.

If you have chosen spring as your wedding time, the chances are that you want a fresh and radiant atmosphere for your wedding. The perfect spring flowers for your ceremony would then include roses, tulips, anemones, daffodils, and Lily of the Valley. Roses and tulips are always favorites – you can never go wrong with them. Anemones look a bit like peonies and come in a variety of light and lively colors. Lily of the Valley adds a twist to your floral decoration with its intoxicating fragrance.

For summer, the best flowers to use would be Calla Lilies, Dendrobium orchids, dahlias, daisies, chrysanthemums, and baby’s breath. As you can see, you also have a lot to choose from in the summer. More so, flowers are quite cheap at this time of the year as well.

For fall, you still have quite a range to choose from, though perhaps not the same as summer and spring. You can add more texture and bright dark colors. Make use of grasses, berries, leaves and branches. Just use your imagination and you will surely come up with a unique and astounding floral theme for your fall wedding!

Winter may be the hardest time to find fresh flowers at an affordable price. Yet there is no reason to despair. There are a lot of people getting married during wintertime and flower shops usually have lots of choices all year round. You cannot escape the fact that flowers will probably be more expensive at this time but it does not mean that you can’t find something to suit your budget.

Ideas for Wedding Favors

You have to admit it, though weddings are of course for the groom and bride – the stars of the day – the guests are also part of the consideration when planning them. Think about it, we only invite people whom we really want to be there. The first people we normally think about are members of the family, high school and college friends, colleagues who are close to us, and the like. Whoever thought of inviting someone you do not really like?

More than organizing a wedding that is meant to be memorable for both the groom and the bride, we also take into consideration the fact that we want the whole affair to be beautiful and memorable for the important people in our lives whom we have invited to bear witness to our union. One aspect of weddings that we cannot overlook is the giving away of wedding favors. I honestly cannot remember a single wedding that I have gone to wherein the couple did not give away wedding favors. Other people call these souvenirs, but however you may want to call them, the idea is the same.

Aside from the precious memories of our wedding, we want to give something to our guests that will remind them of that wonderful day. On top of this, we also want to show them our appreciation for taking part of this momentous occasion in our lives. So what are some good ideas for wedding favors?

One very important consideration would be your wedding theme. You probably have put a lot of effort and time into deciding what your wedding theme should be. As such, it would be silly not to keep with the theme when choosing your wedding favors. In fact, it would be outright illogical. Keeping to your theme with the wedding favors is something like icing on the cake – it just makes things better.

So what can you pick out for wedding favors? There are countless little trinkets that you can give away. My opinion, though, would be to choose something that your guests can use in the future. Though it would be easy to give away any little trinket, it would mean so much more if they are useful as well.

You can never go wrong with candleholders. Almost every household makes use of them. Why not pick out candleholders that go with your wedding theme? You can have your names engraved or printed on them. That way, you can rest assured that you are not giving away an item that will merely collect dust on the shelves. Another good idea would be picture frames. People will never run out of pictures to display. This option also gives you a lot of versatility regarding the design, shape, and color. It will make the task of keeping with your theme easier. How about symbolic suncatchers? These things are quite useful for decorations and are always in style. You also have a lot of options which you can choose from so as to match your theme.

Remember, when picking out wedding favors, bear two things in mind: practicality and your wedding theme. That way, you can never go wrong.
