Remember your mom’s wedding album? If it is anything like our mom’s, it’s white and about three inches thick with the pictures placed between cardboard sheets. All the images are posed and rather stiff. Not exactly joyful sounding.
Thankfully, wedding photography has grown and improved a lot over the years. There are now many highly skilled photographers. There are now more choices on how you want your dream day captured. No longer are you stuck with stiff, near lifeless images.
You can choose to hire a photographer who does portrait work. This basically means that this person is more likely to ask you and your guests to pose for the wedding pictures. You will have a choice of what particular moments you want included. Most of the shots will definitely be about you sitting or standing with various guests. There will probably be at least two photographers and a lot of lights, much like if you were in a studio. This is wonderful for those who are used to the camera and love to pose.
On the other hand, you can go for a photojournalist. A photojournalist is one who is used to capturing fleeting moments. They catch the moment in action as it happens. They aim to capture the soul of the event as it unfolds before their eyes, raw, unplanned. This is great for those who are actually uncomfortable striking a pose and are more intent on having an album of special moments captured as they take place. Usually, a team of photographers will be present if you choose this option. They will do their best to blend in and be as unobtrusive as possible so that the bride and groom feel free to have fun even if they are being captured for posterity.
Once the images are captured you will be asked how you want them in your album. You can choose to have it much like our parent’s albums or you can create your own style. Nowadays, personalizing everything about the wedding is expected.
You are no longer limited to white for your album. You can choose a leather album if you want or place it in a specially hand crafted case. It really is up to you.
Thanks to digital imaging, you are no longer limited to having your pictures stuck between boards. You can actually have your wedding album made into a storybook, with the whole page actually being a picture or a combination of images. It actually makes a nice change and your kids and grandkids will definitely enjoy flicking through your wedding album and seeing your wedding day unfold.
Your wedding album is meant to be the story of your romance in image form. It would be sad if you are unhappy with how it turns out when there are so many great photographers to choose from. Take the time to go around and explore your options. These professionals are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to capture your dream wedding and present you with your storybook of love.
