Wedding Hair Woes Part II

Halloween is coming up soon but that is no reason for you to look a fright on your wedding day. Save the pale face and bizarre hair for next year’s trick or treat gathering. This time around you absolutely do not want to look ghoulish or ghastly.

  • It’s one thing to have your hair piled on top of your head, it’s quite another to look like there’s a nest sitting on top of your crown. The days when women looked like they had beehives or wore wire contraption wigs is quite over. You may want to tiss your hair a little bit, just to give a bit of style and body to your hair but don’t let your hair stand more than 2 inches above the roots unless you are indeed the bride of Frankenstein.
  • Don’t let your hair stylist make you look like a moose. Many a bride allows the hair stylist to dictate the way their hair will look. They end with a style so elaborate that they can’t believe they paid for the mess, yet don’t have the heart or the time to have it changed. Ladies, the secret is to have a trial run. Don’t wait til the wedding day to be surprised. Take the time to work with your stylist weeks before to find the wedding do of your choice. It will only take about an hour of your time if you come well prepared. If you don’t, the resulting frightful hair day will be your fault and no one else’s. Can you say Gordian knots?
  • Your stylist may tell you that she wants to cut your hair. Depending on how deeply you trust your stylist, you may agree or disagree with her suggestion. As a general rule though, no drastic hair style changes are made a day or two before the wedding. The hair will after all need to be prepped for the elaborate style that may suit your bridal look.
  • Too many pins cause a bride to feel anything but happy on her wedding day. How in the world can you have fun if your scalp is being pricked by a pin or is sore and itchy from the clamps holding your hair in place. Find hair pins that are comfortable for you to use and are stylish at the same time. Use styling aids to help keep your hair in place. Make sure to tell your stylist immediately if any pin hurts so that it can be adjusted.
  • Lastly, if your hair is pulled too tight say so right away. How in the world are you supposed to enjoy your own wedding if you feel like your scalp is stretched and pulled and generally too tight? You’ll end up with a headache or worse, a migraine. Better to go for a softer style than feel like you have an instrument of torture right beneath the veil.

Don’t forget that your hair is supposed to be your crowning glory and help enhance your beauty on this very special day. Don’t let anyone give you a style that won’t work for you.

Wedding Photo Packages

One of my friends recently got married and she was ranting about how she made a mistake in hiring this particular photographer. It wasn’t that they did a bad job. She was annoyed because all she received from them was the wedding album.

You are probably wondering what is wrong with that. The problem was the bride was expecting to get the negatives of all her pictures as well. After all you never knew if there were any pictures that you really loved and would like to recopy for your family.

For some couples, it is very important to have the original sources of their wedding photos. Celebrities and media personalities, for example would prefer to keep some images private. Some photographers can be tempted to sell copies of their pictures to make some extracash.

Another reason why most people want the negatives is that not all the pictures taken go into the album. Yet those that aren’t used aren’t given to the couple. Some photographers will tell you it is because you only paid for a specific number of pictures, which will go into your albums. You’ll need to pay more to get those pictures printed out.

Ladies, you should know that most photographers do not include the negatives in the package. You can request that they include it but expect that they may refuse. If they do agree, some will charge you extra for it. After all, they lose business if you will not be returning to them to make reprints of your favorite images.

Of course some photographers will automatically include the negatives in the package. Some will tell you it’s free. Others will tell you it is already part of the cost. It may depend on how good your bargaining skills are.

It may help if you choose a professional who uses digital cameras instead of film. Doing so will mean there will be no negatives to talk about. All images they take will be transferred from the memory used by the phone into a computer.

Usually, the photographers will ask you to do your selecting from the disc that they will prepare for you. All the images you choose will be included in your final wedding album. The rest will be yours to enjoy and share. This disc will usually be given to you to keep once they are done with the printing. You’ll be able to make reprints easily using the files in the disc.

Do expect that they will put a watermark on your image. This will allow them to attract more customers to their work. Maybe if you acknowledge them as your photographer if you put the images up on your site, they’ll be nice and remove the mark.

Don’t forget to read the contract you sign carefully. Some photographers have it in the contract that any images they take can be displayed as samples of their work. If you are a commercial model or actor who gets paid per appearance, you may want that particular paragraph taken out.

Your Dream Wedding : Be Healthy and Wise

It is a month or less away from your wedding day. Everything is in place. You have the church and restaurant of your choice. The menu is mouth watering and sure to satisfy everyone’s tummy. The cake not only looks gorgeous, it is delicious. All the gowns are ready. Your family and friends are all arriving. The plans for your dream wedding have been followed perfectly. All you need to do now is greet your guests as they arrive, have your shower or stag party and actually say your I dos.

There is a lot of pressure on most couples while preparing for their nuptials. With so many decisions to make and trying to fit everything into an already busy schedule, most brides and grooms are just dying to have a day or two that are wedding plan free.

That is an absolutely wonderful idea! You need time to enjoy your relationship and just savor having found each other. Go ahead and have some fun and just date.

Just a reminder: take care not to get sick. We all know that there are bugs and germs everywhere. The last thing anyone wants is to go out for a swim and come home with a cold (not to mention tan lines that may mar the look of your gown).

Here are some suggestions on how to avoid being under the weather on your wedding day:

Get sufficient sleep. Most people who live in the city keep late hours. They sleep at almost midnight, sometimes beyond and get up before seven. Our body demands quality sleep. It needs 8 hours of sleep at night. Sleeping at two in the morning until ten isn’t sufficient. The more rested the body is, the better it can fight infections.

Eat a balanced and healthy diet. Most brides are concerned with being slim and trim on their wedding day. Everyone wants to look glamorous on that special day. This does not mean however that you should starve yourself. Crash diets will cause your weight to drop for a while but they may also cause your immune system to go down. Better to carefully plan, prepare and eat balanced meals everyday.

Make sure you are getting sufficient vitamins and minerals. Make sure that your body is getting sufficient quantities of what it needs to be able to function at its best. Consult your doctor on what supplements you may take, if you choose to add this to your lifestyle.

Exercise. You don’t need to suddenly get into weight lifting or long distance running. You can join an aerobics class or dance class. Just for fun ladies, why not try pole dancing or belly dancing for fitness? It gives a great work out and you can use what you learn on your wedding night.

Prevention is the best medicine is one of the favorite sayings of our elders for a reason. It never hurts to be fit and healthy. In fact it is wise. Side benefit: you will look absolutely stunning in your wedding outfits.
