Lady In Distress

Do you feel like you want to scream already? Is everybody asking for your decisions, driving you up the wall? Wishing that a magical fairy god mother would appear and magically make your dream wedding happen? Welcome to the club!

The majority of brides feel overwhelmed. Imagine you are organizing a major event when you don’t normally host parties. Now, you need to figure out seating charts, cakes, venues, gowns and so on and so forth. It must feel the way that the character of Tom Hanks’ in “You’ve Got Mail” describes it if someone not used to making a decision goes to Starbucks for coffee and suddenly he has to make 6 in a matter of minutes.

First things first: take a deep breath and relax. You can do this. It’s a matter of taking it one step at a time and get organized. The first step is finding the right people to help you get things done.

You need to know what you need to do to create your special event. This means doing a little research. You don’t have to go far. Get online and surf the web. There are great sites (like Weddingtrix.com) that can provide you the tools you need and some really practical tips to a great wedding celebration.
It is always a great idea to have helpful hands around. You don’t have to look very far. Your mother, future mother-in-law, sisters and your maid or matron of honor will be there to help you with any of your wedding tasks. They can help you begin the guest list and give you some idea of what to expect. They are also great for those times when you feel the wedding jitters.
While fairy god mothers aren’t always available, there are knights to help out any bride in distress. If you’re willing to get professional assistance, a wedding planner is absolutely invaluable. They can help you find the best possible vendors for your nuptials. They’ll also take care keeping the “behind the scenes” action smooth on your special day. With them around, all you’ll need to do on your wedding day is say, “I do”, and have fun.

Let’s Talk About Hand Care (Part 2)

Considering how much use our hands get, it is a surprise that most people don’t take better care of their hands. It is easy to have great looking hands if you eat right (green leafy vegetables and food rich in iron, vitamin C, B12 and calcium are a must). Improving your diet alone can begin to create wonders in your nails.

Don’t forget to take care of your cuticles. It really isn’t hard to do. You just need to push them gently back towards the half-moon at the base of your nail using the flat side of an orange stick. Be careful not to crack it or damage it. Keep in mind that the cuticles protect your nails from infections. You may want to use a cold pressed oil or olive oil on them to make the process smooth sailing.

Use a fine pumice stone to rub the skin of your hands. This will remove any rough skin and ridges. Don’t rub too hard on stubborn spots. Given enough treatments, it will smooth out.

There are available buffing kits to make your nails look like you’ve used nail polish when all you really did is sand and polish them. It’s a great natural look that any bride will love.

Last but not least, moisturize your skin. Get your hands soft and smooth by regularly rubbing lotion or moisturizing cream on them. Your husband will love your soft hands. Smooth hands will mean your wedding ring will just glide onto your finger as your husband pledges you his love.

Hand Care (Part 1)

It is often said that if you want to know someone, check out their hands. The hands reflect the kind of work we do and the activities we love. The more we are into sports or crafts, the more our hands need care. They even show if you wash your dishes by hand.

Our daily tasks can make our hands so rough. On our wedding day, we want everything to be wonderful and perfect. That means a little pampering is required for one of the most overworked part of our body - our hands.

The first step is to properly shape your nails. Even if your work calls for you to have really short nails, doesn’t mean you just square them off. File your nails using an emery board (one direction only please) into the shape that best suits your hand. You’ll be amazed how much more elegant your hand looks, without them being one whit less capable.

Next, you need to get rid of the dead skin on your hands. You can buy one of the ready made products from companies like Sally Hansen or Crabtree and Evelyn. But if you’re working on a budget, you can just fill a bowl with some warm water or buttermilk or natural apple cider vinegar and soak your hands for a while. That will help take the dead skin off.

Taking care of your hands is absolutely relaxing. A little massage of your palms, fingers and wrists can go a long way to helping relieve the stress of preparing for your major event. The great part: this won’t cost you much and you can do it easily.

The Best Experience

Everybody will tell you that your wedding day is all about you. Everything must be just the way you want it, from the look of the place to the flowers. The food must be your favorites and the entourage must be people that you both love.

There will be a couple, maybe a hundred people present to help you celebrate your special occasion. They are your guests. Be a great host and don’t bore them at your party.

Don’t forget that your reception is meant to be a memorable event, but also a great party. Give your guests a fun time. Let them go home raving about what great hosts you are. Weddings don’t have to be dry and dull and just ….white!

Now don’t go overboard. You don’t need to have a lot of activities. You just need to have a few that allow most of your guests to get involved. You don’t want the program to drag on so long that people are hungry and anxious to get your reception over with.

It doesn’t have to be expensive either. For example, you already hired a DJ or a singer. Simply put in great music that everyone will enjoy dancing to. Why not have a reel or a square dance and let everyone let thier hair down?

If you want to share happiness, appreciate your guests. Why not have gifts for your guests who have been married the longest? How about creating a video to thank your guests? You can even create one specifically for your parents.

Simply put, get your guests out of their seats and having fun while they are with you. If they can’t actively participate at least give them a good show. They will thank you for the great time as well as the wonderful memories.

Weddings : Let The Music Play

If there’s one necessary element to any gathering, it’s music. Music is what keeps your gathering from being a boring convention. The music can add a touch of romance as well as a touch of spice to your party.

If you’ll notice, most TV shows and movies have music playing in the background. It keeps the scene from becoming totally flat and boring. The music actually enhances the experience just as it can for your wedding, even if you choose to just have a bunch of CDs playing on player in the corner.

Of course, if you really want to get people in the mood, nothing will beat a live performance. Wedding singers are a fantastic addition to any wedding, especially one that has a wide repertoire. If you want dancing, nothing beats the big band music played by - you guessed it - an actual big band.

Of course, if budget is a concern, just hire a great DJ. Ask him to play you a mix of romantic ballads and some dance music. Ask him to help you keep the party spirits up. They can even provide you more variety in terms of genre since you can have some ballroom, some hip hop, some disco and of course some classics to keep the party jumping.

Let your music express how you feel. Get everyone into the romantic and party mood. Just don’t forget to listen to all the lyrics otherwise you may be surprised at what you hear on the speakers.
